Ecopsychology PDF Print E-mail

Many people are drawn to Ecopsychology,  because they have had exceptionally positive experiences in the natural world and they wish to promote these experiences for others.  The recognition of the deep distress of the environment is at the core of Ecopsychology.  This stream of psychology suggests that we need to shift the motivation for environmental action from shame, guilt, and fear to love devotion, and joy.  Greater intimacy, and broader identification with the natural world, leads to more love for place and more engaged living.  Ecopsychology includes the natural environment in psychology and psychotherapy, promotes more effective strategies for environmental action, supports more sustainable lifestyles through an integration of psychological and environmental perspectives, and expands a nature–based spiritual path.
