Certified Advanced Rolfer Rolfing in Columbus and Worthington, Oh
If you think that your body could feel better and move more easily, then Rolfing may be right for you. Rolfing can resolve pain and discomfort from many different causes, including those related to the lingering effects of accidents, illnesses, trauma, repetitive motion injuries and aging.
Rolfing is done mostly with the client lying on the therapy table, but also sitting, standing, and moving. Using myofascial manipulation, Rolfing first works to release the old unhealthy habits deep within the musculature. These tightnesses, or resistances, are important because they are the filter through which we see our lives. After this series of releases, Rolfing can then guide the body to establish a straighter, stronger and more poised way of supporting itself. This enables the client to experience a higher level of well-being.
Austin began his career as a Rolfer in 1978, before that he worked in the field of mental health, in both the private and public sectors. This experience laid the groundwork for Austin understanding how to access the psychological aspects of the individual. Later, his training as a licensed Ohio massotherapist helped him to understand the physical aspects of his clients.
His training has included both the traditional forms of Rolfing as well as the gentle European methods. He is a member of the Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado, one of the premier institutes in the growing alternative healthcare field. For further information on Rolfing see www.Rolf.Org.
Austin offers Rolfing by appointment only. This includes the initial 10-session series as well as on-going advanced work.
